It’s been a while. I’ve missed writing my blog posts, but my health took a turn, and I had to step away. I’ve been thinking about the topic of the little things along the way that bless us, that bless me; those little things I take for granted. I’m listing a few below:
- Hugs from loved ones
- Laughter with the best of friends over the silliest things no one else would understand
- Starting a new book
- Eating an ice cream cone
- A spur of the moment road trip
- An “I love you” from someone special
- A burger from my favorite restaurant…. if you know me, then you know where…
- Snuggles under a blanket with my beloved dogs
- The smell of fresh cut grass
- An unexpected call from a dear friend
- An after church nap
Little things. Simple things. Precious things. Easy to take for granted. Life occurrences, time passing quickly, not paying attention…. these are a few reasons why I seem to take things for granted. I don’t mean to, but sometimes it happens. It happens to all of us at one time or another and then something happens to remind us that life is precious, those moments are precious, people are precious.
Colossians 5: 1-6 reminds us to redeem the time, which means to make the most of the time we have, reminds us to be earnestly in prayer, and to walk in wisdom. I know this passage is speaking of spiritual matters, but I also want to make the most of the time God allows me on this earth. To tells others about Jesus, to be kind and encouraging, to not take those little things for granted, to be thankful, to show more grace to others, to be present in the moment, to redeem the time.
I hope these words remind you of something precious or someone precious. I hope it serves as a reminder for us as we go along the way to not take anything or anyone for granted, to enjoy those moments as they come along. I hope it inspires us to make even more memories. Take the trip. Give the hug. Make the call. Take the nap. Eat the pizza…or the burger. Tell someone how much you love them. Most of all, and most importantly…tell someone about Jesus.
God bless,
Jackie
