Our great God is a God of miracles, of answered prayers, of strength, of hope…and so much more. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). I’m so thankful I can always count on Him and so thankful He hears and answers prayers! It may not always be how we want it or in the timing we want, But He always answers, and His timing is always perfect.
I have experienced so many miracles in my life. I have not shared too many details about my health situation on my blog, but I feel the need to share how God recently performed another miracle in my life. Over the years, I have been diagnosed with cancer three times. God has moved mightily each time. The latest diagnosis came in May of this year: breast cancer. After several biopsies, it was determined that I had two types of breast cancer, not just one. To say the least, it was quite a blow. I also am in stage 5 kidney failure, which among other things from a previous cancer, made chemo very difficult. My oncologist, who is phenomenal by the way, warned me I probably would not be able to handle chemo and that we would go as far as my body could tolerate. She was right. I was only able to tolerate six chemo treatments and was placed in the hospital two times. The decision was made to stop chemo and have the surgery and go from there.
I mentioned our God is a God who still performs miracles, right? Here’s the miracle: The mammogram right before surgery showed no more masses and two doctors told me it was as if I had completed my whole chemo regimen! I had a lumpectomy 10 days ago. The pathology report came back no residual cancer! Praise the Lord. All glory goes to Him!! I am so thankful and grateful. I appreciate all the prayers and support from everyone. I still have to go through radiation treatments, and my kidney issues are still there, but I know God will see me through and give me the strength to face each day.
Miracles. I love reading about them in God’s Word. Over and over in Scripture, Old Testament and New Testament, we see our Lord God performing miracles. My most favorite miracle is how God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites as they fled from Pharoah’s pursuit (Exodus 14). It is a reminder to me that God is a mighty and awesome God and that nothing is too hard for Him. He is in control. He loves and cares for His children.
This world is oftentimes hard, circumstances are not always ideal, and life is not always a bed of roses. In this fallen world, there are tough times, things we just don’t understand, but if we know Jesus as Lord and Savior, one day we will be with Him in eternity where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, no more sickness. Oh, how I hope you know Him as Lord and Savior.
This post is longer than normal, but I want to share one last thing with you. I feel the need to say that even if God chose not to heal my breast cancer, I would still love Him, still praise Him, and still trust Him. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He has a plan and purpose for my life….and for yours.
All glory to God and may His blessings be visible in your life,
Jackie
