Pointing to Jesus Along the Way

Very recently, a friend went home to Jesus. It is so sad for us here on earth to be without her, especially for her precious family. She was such a precious lady and made a huge impact in my life as well as our church. She suffered through a terrible illness, but what I want to talk about is her love for Jesus, her Lord and Savior. All the while, she proclaimed her love for Him and her desire for Him to get the glory in her life. She proclaimed Him boldly and without restraint, refusing to dwell on her illness, and living life abundantly. She talked constantly about how she wanted her Savior to be glorified. Oh, what a witness. What a testimony she had. She is such an inspiration to me. I can only hope my life is lived as a witness to my Lord in some way.

As I think about living a life that points to Jesus, I am reminded that we are not perfect but should try to seize every opportunity to bring honor and glory to our Lord and Savior. In 1 Peter 3:15, Peter encourages us to be ready to share the reasons for our faith, for the hope that is in us. As believers, our faith and hope are in Jesus.

As a three-time cancer survivor, most recently a breast cancer survivor, I am so thankful for the doctors and nurses who have cared for me, the precious family and friends who were there for me, but I know they were sent by the Lord. He is my Healer, my strength, my everything. He has been with me every step of the way and it is my hope that I have given Him glory, that I have encouraged someone in some way, that I have made an impact for the kingdom of God….all for His glory.

I don’t think we should ever underestimate the power of a kind word, a smile, a chance to give, and most certainly never underestimate the power of our testimony and what the Lord has done in our life. There are so many ways we can witness for the Lord, and I hope each day we get up ready and willing to look for those opportunities.

I’m so thankful to feel like writing again, and I appreciate your love and prayers, and encouragement along the way. God is so good.

To Him be the glory, always.

Jackie
