Freedom and Liberty Along the Way

I love the 4th of July holiday. There’s so much to celebrate. Many people have family reunions like my family. I really enjoy seeing family and eating some great food. Must haves for me are my Aunt Eva’s corn, my cousin Melba’s hash brown casserole, my Aunt Pat’s chocolate pie, and my Aunt Anna’s meatloaf. Food, fun, cookouts, vacations, motorcycle trips, pool parties…so many fun events surround this holiday. It’s also a time to remember and be thankful for the freedoms and liberties we have in this great nation of ours. We are blessed.

When I think about freedom and liberty, I am most grateful and thankful for the freedom and liberty I have because of the sacrifice of my Lord Jesus. Because of His sacrifice on the cross…His dying for my sins and the sins of the world….there is freedom from the penalty of sin if we call on His name, ask Him to forgive us our our sins, and ask Him to be Lord of our life, He is faithful to forgive and we have eternal forgiveness from the penalty of sin, which is death. We have eternal life with Him in heaven when our time here on this earth is done. He is the only way to salvation and eternal life.

I am reminded of something from Vacation Bible School: the ABCs of becoming a Christian. It’s very simple:

  • A=Admit you are a sinner and need a Savior.
  • B=Believe on the Lord Jesus: that He died on the cross, was buried, arose from the grave 3 days later, and now is with the Father in heaven waiting to return for His children, those who are saved.
  • C=Commit your life to Christ, ask Him to be your Lord and Savior, and live for Him and follow His ways.

It is a decision I promise you will never regret. Freedom from the penalty of sin and eternal security is so liberating, gives such peace that Scripture refers to as the peace that passes all understanding.

If you don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior and want to read more verses, I am listing a few below.

  • John 3:16
  • Romans 10:9-10
  • Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Roman’s 10:13
  • John 14:6

Today would be a great day to be saved! Also, if you are saved but not living as you should by following Him and living for Him, it would be a great day to repent and rededicate your life back to Him and re-commit yourself to following Him and living for Him.

Have a fun and safe holiday.

God bless,

Jackie
