My family lost a precious loved one this week. To some she was a mom, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a friend, and she was a beloved wife to her husband. Her laugh was vibrant, and I hear it in my mind as I’ve been thinking about her the past few days. She was loving and caring. She was a hard worker. She was a strong woman. She loved the Lord. I have so many memories of her growing up. We got to visit her every summer when we were young. She loved her family. She loved well. She took great care of those she loved. She was good people, as we say. Loss is hard. Very hard. My prayers are with her husband, her sons, her brothers and sisters, our whole family during this difficult time.
The thought that keeps coming forth in my mind is loving well. I hope in my life that it can be said that “she loved well”; That “she loved the Lord”. The bible has much to say about love. We are to love God, to love His laws, to love others…we are to show God’s love to others. We are to love well.
As I said, this was something my aunt certainly did. She showed so much love to me my whole life. I am blessed and thankful for her love and presence in my life. I am thankful for precious memories of loved ones who are no longer with us. I am thankful for their examples, their advice, their love, the laughter we shared, the wonderful times we had together. Family is so important, and I pray I never take it for granted.
As you read this, I hope it encourages you to show love to those around you, to share the great love our wonderful God has shown to us. Hug your loved one. Tell them you love them. Make sure they know. It matters. I pray you are blessed and comforted with precious memories of those you love. I pray that you love well.
Blessings to you and glory to our great God!
Jackie
